Important road information

We’ve noticed that some of our clients have recently had difficulty finding their way to Manheim Coventry. The Tollbar Island underpass has just opened after three years of roadworks, meaning the A45 now goes under the old roundabout. Sat navs seem to be pointing you in the wrong direction, so we’ve put together some directions of our own to help you stay on track.

The postcode for the customer car park at Manheim Coventry is CV3 4FG, but if you’re approaching from either Leicester (that’s the M69) or Birmingham (the A45), sat navs are likely to direct you to the wrong lane.

To find your way to Manheim Coventry, follow road signs for “Coventry Airport”, and then “Bagington”. Your sat nav should catch on, and pick up when you reach the approach road to the centre.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Changes to HGV auction centres
What will happen to the auction centres currently selling trucks, trailers and plant?

For the remainder of 2016 it is business as usual. Our Colchester, Gloucester, Shepshed and Washington centres will cease selling trucks, trailers and plant at the end of 2016.

Manheim will consolidate its fortnightly HGV and trailer sales programme from across England into a weekly programme at Coventry.

Manheim Coventry will open on 3rd January with the launch sale held on Thursday 19th January. Following the launch, there will be weekly HGV and trailer auctions every Thursday and a fortnightly plant auction, again falling on a Thursday.

Manheim will work closely with vendors to manage the transition of all truck, trailer and plant stock; there will be no cost to vendors for the corralling of stock to Coventry from the outgoing HGV auction centres.

Manheim will continue to sell commercial vehicles at Shotts to support the Scottish market.
Changes to Manheim Shepshed
Manheim Shepshed opened in January, what has happened to that site?

Manheim Shepshed has been a huge success story. Around 20% of the vehicles sold so far at Shepshed are trucks, trailers and plant. This site, as well as our other HGV auction centres, are operating over capacity and we need to be able to respond to the growing market pro-actively.

Shepshed will continue to sell vans and we expect volumes there to increase once trucks, trailers and plant are relocated to Coventry.
What does this mean for vendors?
What about vendors at Colchester, Gloucester, Shepshed and Washington?

We are fully committed to working with our vendors to ensure that we deliver the best service and results in the industry. Vendors will be kept fully up to date with communications about the positive move we are making to adapt our Coventry auction centre.

If you have any queries please contact your dedicated Account Manager in the Central Sales Team or via centralsalesteam@manheim.co.uk or 0844 856 4548*.
What does this mean for buyers?
What about buyers at Colchester, Gloucester, Shepshed and Washington?

Manheim has seen significant growth in online bidding and buying over recent years, with around one third of vans now selling online and in the truck market this figure has been 74% so far in 2016. In addition, around 90% of trucks receive at least one online bid.

We know that many of our truck, trailer and plant buyers are buying remotely online, and those who attend sales in person are typically willing to travel.

We do not expect the relocation of truck, trailer and plant auctions to Coventry to cause any negative impact on the combined physical and online buyer attendance at our sales; instead we believe this unique facility will attract more buyers with its increased volumes and variety of product on offer.

What will be different about Coventry?
What will be different about selling HGVs at Coventry?

The dedicated centre will allow us to create a specific truck, trailer and plant auction experience that will be fully focused and dedicated without compromise.

The centre will allow HGVs to be driven past the rostrum and will have an undercover inspection and imaging area.

The dedicated auction centre in Coventry also benefits from a central geographic location, and will enable us to introduce a weekly sales programme for HGVs and trailers and fortnightly plant auction that will be unique in the UK.

We believe that a dedicated auction centre will ultimately benefit our vendors in terms of both speed of sale and attracting the biggest active audience of buyers and hence achieve optimum sale prices.

Our award winning Mobile Auction Unit will be based from Coventry. This vehicle brings the auction action to any location in the UK via 4G connectivity.
Are there more changes ahead?
Are there other changes ahead for Manheim auction centres?

Manheim is a growing business and, as part of Cox Automotive, is financially secure plus benefits from long-term multi-million pound investments from our parent company.

Following record levels of investment in our auction centres, from our new inspection system through to our market-leading 360° imagery booth, we have won awards and recognition from our industry.

We continue to review our operations at a strategic level to ensure that we are delivering the best remarketing solution to our clients, both vendors and buyers, and provide the right facilities for our team members.

The changes we are making to Coventry, and have made in the past year or so with the reopening of Shepshed and the rollout of our all new vehicle processing facilities, are incredibly positive and help us to develop our position in a fast evolving market.
