Fortnightly trucks update with Terry Stout - 15th September 2015
Well it seems a distant memory now, but I’m back from an enjoyable holiday. In light of this being the last summer bank holiday week, there seemed to be a shortfall of trucks and customers.
Once again here there was a mix blend of entries, there were 4 x 2002 Gray & Adams tri-axle fridge trailers direct company selling at £1,700, with another 4 to come so don’t be left out in the cold, they’re great value. There was also a clear sweep again on the Lynton display trailers ex MOD. This vendor also had 2 x 2003 DAF CF85 430 6x4 double drive tractor units which sold at £14,500, and a direct leasing company sold 2 x 2009 Bomag single drum rollers for £400, “Rock and Roll”
Had a predominantly trade driven sale, with a smaller direct entry which gathered the interest it deserved, direct leasing company sold a 2009 DAF LF45 140 tipper at £11,500. A national frozen food distribution fleet entered 2 x Mercedes Benz 1323 fridge boxes and both sold under the hammer for £2,400, “happy vendor”. A national bakery vendor sold 100% of entries under the hammer for reserve and some. Looking forward the next Leeds sale will be a bumper event with entries to include Enterprise Flexi Rent, Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicles plus many other entries direct from national leasing, end user and manufacturer sources. Don’t miss it!
A nice blend of trucks here, a national parcel vendor only had 4 x 7.5 ton boxes and sold 100% with significant pent up demand enquiring when there are going to be more released. The answer is “yes” there are, so keep an eye out online or better still save your search so you get an e mail alert when they arrive. A national builders merchant vendor had 2 dropside crane trucks in the sale; one being a 2007 Mercedes Benz Axor 1823 Dropside crane which found a new home at £13,750, the second was a 2007 DAF LF55 220 dropside crane that sold away at £13,850 - another good result at Gloucester. The centre also saw a new national fleet vendor who entered 2 lots and both sold under the hammer; their 2005 DAF CF65 220 30ft box with tuck away tail lift exceeded reserve at £3,200 for a welcome, new and very happy vendor. More from them at Leeds' next sale.
Due to a 4 lane van and car sale event, a one off change to the start time. Their HGV sale was a small but sweet, with more ex parcel delivery 7.5t boxes flying away and two more Mercedes Vario welfare buses, Council direct, that sold under the hammer.
To summarise, the smaller independent HGV rental contract hire companies are picking up new business with vans.
One local fleet hire company told me they’d expanded their LCV rental fleet by 20 vans in the last 2 months alone.
In the run up to a busy Christmas time period, with no doubt a new record to be smashed in terms of online sales and home delivery, it may be better to snap up the stock now in advance of the last minute scrabble to panic buy a CV.
Keep a close eye on us over the next few sales; we’ve the best selection of trucks direct from daily rental, contract hire, finance, own account operators, utility and council vendor sources.
