Auction update from Andy Conde - 22nd February 2016
It would be very remiss of me this week not to start my overview without mentioning the fantastic BMW sale at Colchester. 1,012 vehicles, prepared to an exceptional standard, offered with precision and no gaps, not a piece of paperwork out of place and four auction lanes full of buyers. What more could an auctioneer ask for?
I must admit I was not my usual confident self pre-sale, as I feared the Monday may not be ideal for buyers to travel but my fears were soon eased as the entourage of buyers formed a procession and the action began.
Bids-a-plenty and prices, despite the amount of white and black 3 series, making over 100% of cap and every vehicle sold within three hours. Perfect end to a perfect day!
Now to the rest of the market, retail demand is high and this has been helped by the extremely kind weather we have had but we must be mindful that we are not out of the woods yet and quite often, a heavy fall of snow in March can slow the job down.
Easter is particularly early this year and if the retail buying trends hold up as they have over previous Easters, this will help with the influx of March part exchanges.
Finally back to Colchester, you know sometimes we take for granted the great work every area of our business does and its days like the mega sale that make you realise the importance of working together as a team and the quality of people we have within that team.
