Manheim will launch the UK’s first double-block vehicle auction in September – offering two vehicles at the same time, in the same lane – within its redeveloped, next generation auction centre in Bruntingthorpe. Offering vehicles at four rostrums over two lanes will increase the single sale capacity at Manheim Bruntingthorpe to 1,500 vehicles.

Manheim Bruntingthorpe is being redeveloped to be the most capable and flexible vehicle auction centre in the UK, able to support sales programmes of all sizes, and specialising in single ‘super sales’ of 600 vehicles or more.

The introduction of double-blocking is part of a multi-million pound investment at Manheim Bruntingthorpe to create the next generation auction centre, providing a retail quality experience for wholesale buyers and vendors. The upgraded facility will blend operational and experiential technology to create a showroom-level environment, and will future-proof the auction centre for ongoing client requirements.

Manheim will increase the volumes of vehicles offered at Bruntingthorpe, diversifying its stock profile and ensuring that buyers have access to a wide variety of great quality vehicles. The introduction of double-blocking will help to manage this increase in volume as efficiently as possible.

Tim Hudson, managing director of Inventory Solutions at Cox Automotive UK, said: We are creating a unique auction centre at Manheim Bruntingthorpe, which will without doubt provide the best experience for buyers and vendors anywhere in the UK.
“The industry-first introduction of double-blocking will maximise prime time selling opportunities, increase stock throughput for our clients, and ultimately help them to sell more vehicles, more quickly and more profitably.

“We will provide the best auction experience in the UK with friendly and personal customer service, combined with a seamless buying process, with smart technology that will provide a great amount of information about the vehicles at each rostrum in each lane for both in-hall and online buyers.”

Manheim has worked closely with its strategic partner at Bruntingthorpe, C Walton Ltd, on the extensive redevelopment work, which has included creating the unique double-block rostrum infrastructure and the installation of a state-of-the-art audio system to compartmentalise the acoustics for each rostrum to provide clarity for buyers.

Manheim will officially open the upgraded Bruntingthorpe auction centre in its entirety in September, with a prestigious manufacturer sale.
