Electric result for Hitachi BEVs at Manheim Commercial Vehicles
A recent batch of Nissan e-nv200 electric vans entered into an exclusive auction event drew exceptionally-high interest, highlighting the pent-up demand for electric vans in used market.
Manheim held its annual pop-up premium commercial vehicle auction for Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions (HCVS) in July and delivered a record-breaking £1.2m sales performance. Held at HCVS head office in Trowbridge, nearly 250 buyers participated in the auction, achieving 106% of CAP average and 98% sale conversion on the day.
Manheim’s analysis of the six Nissan e-NV200 models sold states their average mileage at just over 11,000 miles and an average age of 49 months. The average CAP average value for the e-nv200 vans was £10,975 vs £6,000 for an equivalent diesel variant. The hammer values at the auction averaged £12,750 - a staggering 116% of their CAP value and more than double (214%) of an equivalent diesel engined model.
Matthew Davock, director of CV at Manheim, said: “With the London ULEZ now live and an increased awareness of the planned clean air zones, we are seeing pent up demand for used electric vans. This outstanding result proves the confidence in the used market for the proven technology. However, with only around 6,500 electric vans registered in the UK, these are a drop in the ocean of the 4.3 million vans on UK roads.”
HCCV is a partner to the recently launched multi-million-pound Ofgem Optimise Prime project. It is led by global data technology solutions provider Hitachi Vantara and electricity distributor UK Power Networks. As the world’s largest EV end-to-end trial, its aim is to deliver the steps required to accelerate EV take up in the UK across a variety of business operations. Over the next 3 years up to 3,000 electric vehicles from Centrica, Uber and a large UK depot-based parcel carrier will take to the roads. They are supported by distributor Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, Hitachi Europe and Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions.
