Manheim Auction Services extends Accelerate support package

As the country moves into its next phase of lockdown easing, dealers can still take advantage of Manheim Auction Services’ Accelerate package, which includes free vehicle collection from auction sites and the suspension of online buying fees. Originally announced in 2020 as vehicle auctions pivoted to a digital format amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Accelerate is a collection of added incentives and services designed to enable dealers to withstand the effects of lockdown on trade and to recover swiftly.

With car showrooms in Scotland reopening from 5 April, and in England and Wales from 12 April, Manheim Auction Services announced that it would keep all the benefits of Accelerate in place until further notice.

Manheim’s sites have reopened to allow in-person viewing by appointment – but online buying fees will still be waived, so dealers don’t pay more to buy online. In addition, vehicle collection from auction sites remains free of charge; buyers only need to book a collection time and follow Manheim’s COVID safety protocols.

In advance of the collection date, Manheim will send buyers high-quality images of the vehicle, so they can start their marketing activities even before the car reaches the forecourt.

Finally, all buyer account tier reviews are on hold – so dealers’ pricing will not increase, regardless of their level of activity. “Dealers are looking forward to a strong bounceback now that they can reopen their physical premises,” said Liam Quegan, managing director of Manheim Auction Services. “Our mission is to help ensure they are best placed to take advantage of the resurgent demand for car retail.

“Therefore, though the Accelerate programme was initially designed as a temporary lockdown measure, we are more than happy to extend it as lockdown finally recedes. It’s this kind of end-to-end support that – in our view – will really make a difference to automotive businesses during a crucial period.”

Manheim’s parent company, Cox Automotive, offers several connected services to improve and streamline the auction experience for dealers – including dedicated customer support, vehicle assurance through Manheim’s SureCheck product, flexible funding via NextGear Capital, and secure vehicle transportation with Movex.

“We now have more than 50 sales taking place every week and thousands of new vehicles arriving at our sites daily,” Quegan concluded. “It’s our belief that we’re all in this together as an industry, which is why we’re putting our buying power to use to offer dealers competitive pricing, added value and a rounded package of services. This is our contribution to enabling a widespread recovery.”
