Weekly trucks update with Terry Stout - 23rd June 2015

Well what a fantastic week with three HGV sales.

Gloucester, a great start to the week on Monday. BT Fleet had a clear sweep of their DAF 45 and 55 bespoke workshop boxes and pole erection units. A number of ex-MOD DAF XF 95.430 4x2 Space Cabs, with rare manual gearboxes, were fought over and likely to end up satisfying the export market.

Colchester had a beautiful line up of trucks. Carlsberg had a sell-out of its entries, all well above reserve. The sale also featured plant and, once again, new faces leaned in from the neighbouring van auction lanes to bid. The buyer crowd always amazes me with national and international customers traveling from far and wide to make sure they don’t miss out on a bargain. Let alone the tens of people that join the sale from their yards and offices via the internet. Washington too had a lovely mixed truck and plant sale, local council vendors to fleet vendors.

The show stopper at Washington was a wheelchair adapted 2005 Mercedes Benz Vario 814D coach that sold for a whopping 516% of reserve – wow!

Generally across the country there are still a lot of enquires and deals to be had selling trucks and trailers. The overarching demand is for fresher, younger product, that is really “hot” right now in this current climate. Well who knows what’s going to happen up North next week with HGV sales at Shotts on Wednesday and Leeds on Thursday. I’ll let you know next week!

Take Care
Terry
